We love the Hislops!!

>

Ever have one of those days when you can just feel the wheels slowly coming off of the ole wagon?? Or when you can just tell your kid's MAJOR meltdown is just around the corner and you're dodging and weaving as much as you can to avoid it? I have those kinds of days almost every Friday afternoon. Something happens to my kids and I that is virtually unobserveable to the naked eye and unexplainable to most "normal" people I know. Things just start to go south right around, oh say 4:30 and don't usually recover until 9:00 or so.
This Friday Hopi was going to be gone until after the kid's bedtime and I decided I wasn't going to go down without a fight. So I enlisted the help of my sweet friend Mo (and her loving family) to help get me through until bedtime. They came through in a big way! We arrived at their house just around the time my kids normally would have started the derailing process and I think the distraction of playing with Hannah, Zach and Matty successfully prevented said derailing. Word. We stayed for dinner (great job Mo Mo), some soccer in the rain and a Christian version of Jay Jay the jet plane. Rory fell asleep on the way home and Will went down easily once we got home. Malia must have remembered that she forgot to flip out earlier and decided to spend about 10 minutes screaming her lungs out before falling down in a heap on the bathroom floor. I quietly opened the door and asked her if she was ready to go get in bed quietly and she said yes, stood up, walked into her room and with a sing song voice (like she hadn't JUST been screaming bloody murder) said, "silky and baba please." I don't know how she switched gears so quickly. She must get that from Hopi.
Happy Weekend!! Oh and Happy anniversary Steph and Matty!!

Funny story...believe it or not, I think I know what you're talking about. It must be similar to how old people can sense an oncoming storm in their bones. Way to put up a fight! Yahoo for the Hislops.
